After coming into the spring season unranked, the Gophers have certainly put themselves on the map in the NCVF, earning themselves a #7 national ranking. Following a 7-2 finish at Big Ten Round Robins at Purdue in March, Minnesota entered the BTMVA Championship Tournament as the second seed. An easy win over Northwestern and a tight 3-set loss to Illinois set the Gophers up for a quarterfinal against Ohio State. Minnesota made quick work of OSU, beating them for the first time since 2012, and then swept Purdue in the semis to set up a rematch with Illinois in the BTMVA Championship match. Although the Gophers jumped out to an early lead and easily took set 1, Illinois took control of the second and third sets and defeated Minnesota to win the BTMVA Championship trophy.
Looking forward, Minnesota will travel to Purdue to compete in the MIVA championships on March 26th and 27th, the final tournament before Nationals in Louisville in April.
